Laboratory for Manufacturing Systems & Automation (LMS)

Laboratory for Manufacturing Systems & Automation (LMS) is oriented on research and development in cutting edge scientific and technological fields. LMS is involved in a number of research projects funded by the EU and European industrial partners. Particular emphasis is given to the co-operation with the European industry as well as with a number of “hi-tech” firms. LMS is under the direction and technical coordination of Professor George Chryssolouris. It currently employs approximately 70 researchers organized in four different groups: Manufacturing Processes Modelling and Energy Efficiency, Robots, Automation and Virtual Reality in Manufacturing, Manufacturing Systems and Software Development for Manufacturing.

TECNALIA

TECNALIA is a private, independent, non-profit applied research center of international excellence. Legally a Foundation, Tecnalia is the leading private and independent research and technology organisation in Spain and one of the largest in Europe, employing around 1,300 people (219 PhDs) and with income of €108 Million in 2019. TECNALIA has one GOAL: to transform technology into GDP, meaning wealth to improve people’s quality of life through generation of business opportunities for industry. TECNALIA is committed to generate major impacts in economic terms, by means of innovation and technological development, addressed by 7 business divisions covering the economic sectors of Energy, Environment, Industry, Transport, Construction, Health and ICT. KTH Royal Institute of Technology

Since its founding in 1827, KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm has grown to become one of Europe’s leading technical and engineering universities, as well as a key centre of intellectual talent and innovation. KTH is Sweden’s largest technical research and learning institution and home to students, researchers and faculty from around the world dedicated to advancing knowledge. KTH is operated through five schools and a large number of departments within the schools, gathering more than 13,000 full-time undergraduates, over 1,700 PhD students and approximately 3,600 full-time employees. The department of Production Engineering operated under the school of Industrial Engineering and Management is the home of three active research divisions focusing on different aspects of manufacturing.

TAU

Tampere University (TAU, Tampereen korkeakoulusaatio sr) was created in January 2019 by a merger of the Tampere University of Technology (TUT) and the University of Tampere (UTA), which joined forces to create a new foundation-based university. TAU is situated on several campuses and is Finland’s second-largest university with 18,400 students and 4,200 employees. In 2019, the total income of TAU was 321 M€ of which 40 % was external research funding. At TAU, research groups and projects conduct multidisciplinary research across institutional boundaries in fields of technology, health, and society. The university researcher community and support services have long experience on EU funding. TAU ranks fourth among all Finnish participants in H2020 funding. The distinctive strength of TAU is in the interaction between basic and applied research. The University is a sought-after partner for collaborative research and development projects with business and industry and a fertile breeding ground for innovation and new research- and knowledge-based companies.

Roboception

Munich-based Roboception GmbH was founded in March 2015 as a spin-off of the Institute of Robotics and Mechatronics of the German Aerospace Center (DLR). Roboception offers innovative navigation, real-time perception and manipulation solutions for robotic systems. Customer-specific software products for a variety of hardware platforms are developed in compliance with the customer’s individual plug-and produce requirements. Following the concept of “Sense - Reason - Act”, 3D technologies such as object localization, recognition and scene analysis, robotic manipulation and application development complete the portfolio. The solutions include highly intuitive, user-friendly interfaces, parametrization and programming; hence a detailed robotic knowledge is not required for their setup and operation.

Visual Components

Visual Components is recognized as a global leader in the manufacturing simulation industry and trusted technology partner to many of the leading brands in industrial automation. Founded in 1999 by a Finnish-American team of simulation experts, Visual Components offers a 3D factory simulation and visualization suite that consists of a set of innovative tools, which set the standard for modern simulation. S21SEC

On 2018, an agreement has been signed that will lead to the merger of two of the historical companies and big players in the cybersecurity sector in Spain, S21sec and Nextel. This in order to face the exponential growth of cyber-attacks observed in the last few years. S21sec, being part of the investment portfolio of Sonae Investment Management (Sonae IM), is now the biggest security specialized enterprise in Spain and one of the most important in Europe, their headquarters are located in Zamudio, in the Basque Country. Thus, S21sec is the most important cybersecurity pure player in Spain and Portugal in terms of turnover (32M Euro Combined revenue in 2017; 100% cybersecurity products and services) and number of cybersecurity experts on staff.

AIC - AUTOMOTIVE INTELLIGENCE CENTER

AIC-Automotive Intelligence Center an European open innovation center working as unique partner for companies to improve their competitiveness through cooperation. The Center provides value to the automotive industry through the integration of knowledge, technology and industrial development at a global level. AIC supports the whole lifecycle of innovation integrally and market-oriented, from the universe of ideas to the development of a new product, from an improvement in process to the creation of new businesses. Among other competences, AIC has developed specific expertise and developed projects in Lightweight, Electrification, Advanced Manufacturing and Virtual Development.

DGH

DGH has been designing, implementing and commissioning integrated projects and services in industrial settings for more than 40 years, with an extensive national and international coverage. We started out in the automotive industry, one of the most complex and demanding sectors, and thereafter extended our activities to sectors such as food, aeronautics, construction and new technologies, inter alia. At this time, we employ a staff of more than 350 professionals with skills and competitive experience in industrial engineering (design, development and commissioning of projects and facilities), integrated industrial maintenance and process consultancy.
